Worldwide demand for electricity is increasing constantly, fossil resources are being depleted at an ever-increasing pace and their extraction often results in environmental damage and climate change. The sun supplies us with sustainable energy that can be transformed into electricity via PV modules without diminishing the energy reserves of the sun. The use of solar energy enables us to help save fossil resources and protect our environment.

Our commitment does not end with support. SUNfarming pursues its projects sustainably and at its own expense, enabling hundreds of participants to train in the pioneering solar energy sector year for year.
Food & Energy Training Centre
education + jobs – food supply – energy security Food & Energy Project provides jobs and education, food and energy and infrastructure where they are currently needed. European technologies and through PPP partnership with industry, long-term reliable management of systems, secure investments.
Based on our own development SUNfarming and their daughter company SOLprime have designed unique agro-solar substructures for greenhouses for their partner company Alensys.
The roof is partly covered with solar panels to produce energy. 15 agro-solar green-houses, installed on site of the NWU University can be used continuously for practical training and research.
This unique combination is securing effectively food production and at the same time a sustainable energy supply with PV.
The Food & Energy Training Project provides knowledge transfer in the food production in greenhouses for master trainers and students.
In resource poor areas or in conflict areas people from the region are trained to foremen /women in particular food cultivation in Food & Energy plants. The income situation of people is greatly improved.
For the first time this project was realized by our partner company ALENSYS with the support of KfW DEG. The SUNfarming Food & Energy concept has a number of developmentally very interesting effects:

6 PV training units, installed by SUNfarming on the site of North-West University, can be used continuously for practical training.
The training (Mastertraining) at the training centre is firmly integrated into the curriculum of NW University Potchefstroom until the end of the project in 2014, specialists are provided with extensive training and enabled to plan, install, operate and maintain PV units themselves in the future.
Over 360 participants were successfully trained in the basics of photovoltaics at the Solar Training Center in 2013/14.

Within the scope of the “Build a training centre” PPP project for photovoltaics in Syria we established training facilities at the sites AIC Aleppo Industrial City, University of Aleppo and Order of Syrian Engineers and Architects (OSEA).
Selected experts were trained as knowledge multipliers in the basics of implementing and utilising solar energy for electricity generation in order to independently train solar specialists and plan, install, operate and maintain photovoltaic facilities.
100 electrical engineers and installers were trained up until shortly before the outbreak of war. As soon as the security situation permits, SUNfarming will continue the training of PV experts at the training centre as quickly as possible, thereby making an important contribution to enabling energy supplies for the population.
„SUNfarming and the training association SENATI, in co-operation with the GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit), are jointly erecting a training centre for photovoltaics and electromobility, thereby taking the first essential step for incorporating the training content into the existing training programme of the SENATI“.
The long-term goal of the regenerative mobility association BRM is to achieve a 100 % share of renewable energies in overall German primary energy consumption. To achieve this goal the technology-based promotion of mobility in all fields of renewable energies is supported. Existing framework conditions are being improved to enable the creation and marketing of biogenically and regeneratively created fuels.
